Series Connection
What is Series Connection ?
Series connection refers to a connection in which all the resistances are connected in a straight line.
It looks something like this
What Happens When They are Connected in Series?
When all the resistances are connected in series than the sum of voltage consumed by all is equal to the total voltage provided in the circuit.
What Remains Constant ?
In a series connection the amount of current remains constant.
What is its Formula ?
R= R1 + R2 +R3 (the numbers are supposed to be in the subscript)
How is the Formula Derived?
= V1 + V2 + V3
according to Ohm's law V = IR So,
V1 = I R1, V2 = I R2, V3 = I R3
V = I R1 + I R2 + I R3
V = I(R1+R2+R3)
V =IRe
All the individual resistances become equal to the equivalent resistance.
or Re = R1 + R2 + R3......Rn
